The Municipality of Malinska – Dubasnica, located in a wide bay with its twenty scattered surrounding villages, forms a historic entity known as Dubasnica. The greatest natural wealth of this area is the unique beauty of the sea and the Dubasnica oak forests.
Join us in discovering the oak forests, abandoned villages, and the hinterland of Malinska on two wheels, at perhaps the most beautiful time of the year when ancient oaks don their autumn cloak, olive groves release their juicy fruits, and flocks of sheep greet you from the pastures in their familiar way.
This year we have prepared two routes – one for advanced recreational cyclists and one for families with children.

MALINSKA BIKE / SPORT Route

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
After gathering in the center of Malinska, we set off towards the picturesque fishing village of Porat, where we stop at the Franciscan monastery of St. Magdalene from 1480, still home to Glagolitic friars today. The trail continues through the shade of dense oak forest and winds among dry stone walls enclosing lush olive groves. We reach the bay of Cavlena, a perfect spot for a short break with a view of the Kvarner Gulf, and then the breathtaking ancient oaks, standing tall for almost 400 years. Their
immense height and crown spread showcase the true power of nature. Through the picturesque hamlets of Sotovento and fenced pastures where sheep graze cheerfully, we return to Malinska.
The route is intended for more advanced recreational cyclists who can ride about 30 kilometers on hilly terrain and varied surfaces.

From the square in Malinska, dominated by the DubOak Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center, we ride through forest pastures, cultivated olive groves, and meadows to the Old Cemetery of St. Apollinaris. We continue toward the ancient oaks, among which a true giant stands out, long recognized as one of the island’s natural heritage treasures. For centuries, this oak has dominated the clearing near the trail now loved by nature enthusiasts. The route continues past pastures and
olive groves to Fumak hill with a large cross, offering a stunning panorama of Rijeka Bay. From the harbor in Porat, the coastal path brings us back to Malinska.
The route is intended for recreational cyclists and families with children who can ride 15 to 20 kilometers on easy terrain with around 200 meters of total ascent.

MTB KIDS PARK
For children of ages from 5 to 13 years BBK 'Team Rodeo' from Rijeka organizes a small school of MTB.
While accompanied by experienced cyclists, participants will ride on elements that simulate natural obstacles, as in real mountain biking.
